Cell Phone Use During Pregnancy

Published by admin under Pregnancy

No Cell PhoneIf you are pregnant, you may want to hang up your cell phone.  For at least nine months!

A shocking study will be published in the July 2008 journal Epidemiology that was conducted by a UCLA researcher and a Denmark University.  This study followed two groups of women - those who used cell phones during pregnancy and those who did not.  Furthermore, they documented the amount of cell phone use their children experienced up to their seventh year.

The results are unbelievable.  Those who used cell phones during pregnancy had children who were 54% more likely to have significant behavioral problems.  Of these children, 25% were more prone to emotional issues, 34% had problems relating to those of the same age, 35% were prone to hyperactivity and 49% often behaved badly.

The cause of this is unknown, although ongoing studies on rats exposed to the same type of radiation are having babies who have actual structural changes in their brains.  Those who conducted the study have been asked if “cell phone moms” may simply pay less attention to their children.  This will be investigated as well.

This is a serious study to consider if you are pregnant.  The possible implications of cell phone use to your baby and his or her future are quite significant.  Is it worth years of challenges for both you and your child, just to make a quick call while sitting in traffic?  It might just be better to wait and use the good old “land line” when you reach your destination.

Morning Sickness Relief

Published by admin under Pregnancy

Preggy PopsAre you sick of feeling your morning sickness day, noon and night?  We have found a combination that may take the edge off your queasy tummy.

You have probably determined which foods or drinks help to relieve your morning sickness.  From crackers to coke to lemonade - many expecting mothers have one or two things that they can tolerate early in pregnancy.  Of course, if you have severe morning sickness, it is important to talk to your doctor about medications that can be used to keep you from dehydration.  But for those who have a stomach that just won’t settle, why don’t you try our latest find?

We had a few moms test the all natural anti-nausea products from Three Lollies.  The majority found relief with some of the products offered by this company.  Most moms felt the nausea drops worked better than the preggie pops.  For some, nausea was completely relieved, while for others it kept the sickness to a manageable level.

Our secret combination?  Try the queasy drops while wearing anti-nausea sea bands.  These are non-medicated bands found in drugstores that you wear on your wrists.  The inside of the band places gentle pressure on the inside point of your wrist, helping to curb nausea.  You will probably find them in the aisle that also includes medications for air sickness and motion sickness.

The general consensus was a combination of the queasy drops and the anti-nausea bands helped to relieve morning sickness in most of our testers.  But a word of caution - moms said to stay away from the lavender flavor, as most took one taste and went, “blech!”
